Feng Shui in the Bedroom

CREATE A FEELING OF BEING NESTLED IN

Think of your bedroom as a place to go to get away from your everyday stress. A place where you can recharge and in some cases reconnect with a loved one. This room is your special hideaway and you should feel the stress of the day dissolving when you walk into your bedroom. They say the bigger the bedroom the higher the divorce rate so you want to create a feeling of warmth and closeness in your bedroom. If your bedroom is very large think of making separate areas using a screen as a room divider. You could make a cozy reading area by adding a big comfortable chair and a bookcase holding your favorite books. You can also add a soft luxurious throw to wrap yourself in while you are reading one of your favorite books.

KEEP WORK OUT OF THE BEDROOM

As I already mentioned your bedroom is a place to rest and relax. When you walk into your bedroom you should be able to forget about any stress you may have experienced during the day. You are now in your haven of luxury and you do not have to think about anything else but recharging yourself. One way to ensure this is to keep work and any work related books, tapes, projects, charts, or ideas out of the bedroom. These things are “talking” to you all night. You may think it is not distracting and you are getting the rest you need but your sub-conscious is actively thinking about the presentation that you are working on and the piles of books and papers scattered around your bedroom. When you give yourself time away from your work you become more creative because you are more relaxed and rested.

USE FLESH TONES IN THE BEDROOM

Think of all the flesh tones in the world on a color pallet, they would range from white to burgundy to rose to yellow to pink to cocoa to deep browns to beige. These are the best “Feng Shui” colors to bring into your bedroom. These are the colors that will stir passion and bring peacefulness to the occupant after a stressful day. Red is a very activating color and can “spice” up an area that is lacking in energy. Bringing too much red into a bedroom may cause arguments so be careful not to over due. Cooler hues such as blues and greens tend to cool the passion. If blue and green are your favorite colors and you have decorated your entire bedroom in blue then you can add some warm hues with candles, fresh or silk flowers, light bulbs to give a soft hue to the room, throw pillows, pictures and area rugs. When you have an all blue or green bedroom there is no need to start re-decorating. Just use your creativity to bring in more of the warmer flesh tones to your environment.

PLACE YOUR BED SO YOU HAVE A CLEAR VIEW OF THE DOOR

It is important to place your bed so you can see who is entering your bedroom. This is so you will not be startled or surprised by anyone coming in to your space. It is most beneficial not to be in the direct line of the door because the energy could flow in to quickly and cause you to have trouble sleeping. Place your bed so you can see the door and if that is not possible place a mirror so you have a view of the door and are able to see who is coming in. You always want to feel safe and empowered.

WHAT KIND OF ART WORK & PICTURES ARE IN YOUR BEDROOM?

Look around your bedroom. What kind of artwork is hanging on the walls and if you have pictures in your bedroom who are in those pictures? It is best to have romantic artwork in your bedroom. Not artwork of people working, or are alone or are sad but artwork depicting romantic places or people in love, holding hands, being together. It is also advisable NOT to have family pictures in your bedroom. The bedroom becomes to “crowded” when you have the whole family in there with you. This goes for single people as well as married people.

BE CREATIVE WHEN MAKING CHANGES IN THE BEDROOM

When you start making changes in your bedroom (or any room) let your creativity flow and make changes that will inspire and empower you. This is your personal paradise so let it reflect the person who lives there. This is a special room in your home because this is the room you go to rest and reenergize yourself so you can face each new day filled with inspiration and energy. Treat this room with that same love that it will return to you.
