The Lord’s Prayer

For centuries mankind has turned to prayer for answers to the most troubling questions of life. During times of sickness, financial difficulty, and marital strife, prayer has provided solace to billions. Today, modern science has begun to embrace prayer as a tool for healing. Research shows however, that not all prayers are created equal.
Dr. Bryd, a cardiologist with San Francisco General Medical Center completed a research study involving 393 patients between August 1982 and May 1983. He divided the group into 192 patients who were prayed for, and 201 who were not prayed for. He reported that among other things, the people who were prayed for were five times less likely to develop pulmonary edema, pneumonia, or other post-surgical complications. They also died five times less often than the patients in the control group.

In a study that examined germinating seeds completed by Dr. Franklin Loehr, three sets of seeds were studied for the effects of prayer. One set of seeds received positive prayer, one set received negative prayer, and one set was not prayed for at all. Time after time, the results indicated that prayer helped speed the growth and germination of the seeds. The seeds that received positive prayer also produced more vigorous plants! Negative prayers actually halted the growth of the plants.
There are literally thousands of research studies such as these that time and time again show the astoundingly positive results of prayer. The results also show that the more positive the prayer, the greater its power. One of the most powerful prayers ever spoken was created over 2000 years ago by one of history’s most influential figures, Jesus of Nazareth. The Lord’s Prayer is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful prayers ever spoken.
